It is time to start preparing for a new school year as the fall approaches. Soon the stores will be filled with school supplies, and teachers will inform you about the upcoming year. Summers Pharmacy is here to help parents and kids to stay healthy during the new school year and beyond. We make every effort to ensure you succeed and stay healthy!
Kids' Health & Wellness
Begin your school year with a trip to Summers Pharmacy to purchase a wide range of products to keep you healthy. For a healthy start to the school year, consider the following items:
Multivitamins – The foods we eat do not give adequate vitamins and minerals to support growth and development. Multivitamins are a great way to supplement the body's necessary nutrients.
Vitamin C – Germs abound at school; help protect your kids' immune system.
Elderberry – Available in syrup and kid-friendly gummy form, elderberry helps reduce the duration of colds.
First aid kit– Be ready for any scrapes and cuts. Check your first aid kit to see what items need restocked with a trip to Summers Pharmacy.
Probiotics – promote gut health that will help keep the stomach bugs away.
No matter what you are looking for, a Summers Pharmacy pharmacist can help you find all your back-to-school health essentials.
Continued COVID Awareness
During the past year, there have been significant developments regarding COVID prevention. Recently, the FDA approved Novavax, which uses a different technology than previously available COVID-19 vaccines. Still, a two-dose vaccine, doctors and medical experts are recommending only patients 18 and older consider taking this particular COVID vaccination. Summers Pharmacy will keep you up-to-date when you and your family are eligible for updated COVID vaccines.
For additional assistance with vaccinations or boosters, a pharmacist from Summers Pharmacy will help administer vaccines by appointment. We have COVID test kits available to purchase and test at home, helping you stay informed on your COVID exposure status. If you happen to test positive, the CDC has provided a Quarantine and Isolation Interactive Tool with the most up-to-date guidelines on how to keep yourself and those you love safe.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month
"This annual observance highlights the importance of getting recommended vaccines throughout your life," states Christina Howerton, Manager/Marketing and New Media at National Health Council.
Since many have been isolated, many children haven't received proper vaccinations for the upcoming school year. Your Summers Pharmacy pharmacist can help discuss the CDC Child Vaccine Schedule and get your children vaccinated and protected efficiently. Vaccine-preventable diseases include:
Meningitis
Diphtheria
Tetanus
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
We also prioritize adult vaccination services. As we head into another flu season, consult your Summers Pharmacy pharmacist regarding any adult vaccinations you need. Adults are still playing catch up with their health and wellness visits due to a significant drop in primary care provider appointments over the last two years. Meanwhile, doctor's offices must schedule office visits for about two to four months. Don't wait for an immunization that your Summers Pharmacy pharmacist can administer.
